NAC ExxonMobil Concert in the Park Online Photo Competition

We invite you to capture the liveliest, funniest and some of the best moments at Concert in the Park 2008 and win yourself some prizes while enjoying the outdoors & music! Simply take a snapshot on what you feel best represents the spirit of Concert in the Park and send us a digital copy between 31 Mar - 5 Apr 2008. No registration fees for submitting your entries, so what are you waiting for? Start shooting at the first Concert in the Park for 2008!

Venue: Main stage, West Coast Park (carpark 3, behind McDonald’s)

Time: 4 – 6.30pm (concert starts at 5pm)

1st prize: $300 cash
2nd Prize: $200 cash
3rd Prize: $100 cash

Rules and regulations
1) This competition is open to all individuals residing in Singapore.
2) Competition period is from 31 Mar – 5 Apr 2008.
3) Each participant can submit up to 3 entries.
4) All entries must be submitted in digital JPEG format and must not exceed 2MB in size per email submission.
5) Please retain the original size of your pictures, at least 300 dpi which will be needed upon selection.
6) The entries will be judged on quality and creativity of the photo.
7) Participants must provide Name, NRIC, contact details and Title of entry with each online entry.
8) Email your entries to concert@bac.com.sg to participate.
9) All winners will be notified via telephone by 15 Apr 08 regarding the collection of prizes. Result announcement and posting of the winning photo entries will be put up on concertinthepark.blogspot.com/.
10) The organisers reserve the right to use the winning works as promotional materials.
11) If submitted photo entry include persons other than the one submitting the photo, the organisers shall not be liable for any infringement of legal rights of using the photo.
12) The organisers reserve the right to substitute any of the prizes with product(s) of equivalent value where necessary.
13) The organisers assume no responsibility for entries which are unable to process due to network, hardware, or other technical failures or lost e-mail entries.
14) Decisions of the organisers are final. The organisers reserve the right to reject without reasons given or not to award any prizes to any entry found to have violated any of the rules and regulations.
15) The organisers reserve the right to amend the rules and regulations as and when necessary.

The first Concert in the Park for the year 2008!


Dear fans and friends of the NAC-ExxonMobil Concert in the Park series, yes, we're back for the first concert of the year and we're coming to West Coast Park (near McDonald's)! So be sure to bring your picnic mats and family down for a rumbling good time!

Catch a glimpse into the exciting world of the varied beats and rhythms drummed up by the world's disparate cultures from Asia to South America! Grab a shaker, a tambourine and even a fork and spoon and come take part in the drumming clinic just before the concert!

Performing for you 'live' are:

Heartbeat Percussion
Performing a fusion of local ethnic and global percussion music, comprising signature percussion instruments from various ethnic groups, audience can look forward to a highly energetic and global sounding performance, featuring Malay, Indian & Latin America rhythms, with elements of audience engagement. Heartbeat Percussion will also putting up a Drum Circle for Free Audience Participation at 4pm on 30 March 08. Come and drum with us. Drums are provided!

Gin Taiko Drummers
Formed to promote the art of Taiko Drumming, a form of art, music and sport – all rolled into one, this type of harmonic drumming has its origins in Japan where different shapes and sizes of drums are used to form its own Taiko brand and style of music and rhythm. It is forceful, dynamic and boasts of several standing formations and acrobatic movements. The group has recently performed in various places such as the Singapore Air Show, President's Challenge at Takashimaya, Sakura Day at Singapore Turf Club.

JuzSteel
Enjoy the spectacle of steel pan music and the exciting repertoire comprising the soothing melodies and exotic rhythms of Caribbean, familiar pop songs and evergreen classics. Juzsteel has performed at Chijmes, the Esplanade Waterfront and other major performing venues in Singapore.

Chinese Seasonal Drummers
Presenting the award winning Jalan Besar Lion Dance Troupe. Its recent feat includes winning the 2007 Macau Championship and the 2007 Taiwan Asian Dragion & Lion Dance Championship. Its Chinese seasonal drummers were 2nd placed in the Thailand Princess Invitation Competition. Catch the ever-amazing seasonal drums performance put up by our very own seasoned drummers!

Yuying Secondary School Display Band
Set up more than 30 years ago, the band has participated in 5 Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging and achieved a ‘Distinction’ in the 2006 Singapore Youth Festival Marching Assessment and a ‘Silver’ award in the 1st National Band Competition. The band also organized its first Overseas Exchange Programme to Hong Kong in 2006. The school will put up a concurrent marching display and stage percussion performance to showcase its dexterity in band display and interaction.
