Concert-In-The-Park

NAC-ExxonMobil Concert-In-The-Park

Date: Sunday 8th March 2009
Time: 4.00 – 6.30pm (concert starts at 5.00pm)

Venue: Singapore Botanic Gardens,
Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage
Free Admission!

Featuring two international acts in
different musical genres, the grounds of the
Singapore Botanic Gardens will vibrate
to the sounds of a unique combination of folk
funk jazz frenzy in an R&B reggae kind of way
with Australia’s “Totally Gourdgeous”
who will make its debut in Singapore
with its toe-tapping and grooving music
played with a mix of conventional instruments
and self-made vegetable gourds.
Imagine Joni Mitchell and James Brown
getting down in Bob Marley's pumpkin
patch via the Muppets. They perform with an
infectious eclectic beauty in the gourdiest
of costumes.

And jazzing up to the occasion at the
park grounds is Mexico’s top contemporary
jazz trio, “SACBE”. Comprising three brothers,
SACBE mixes all kinds of music influences
that span African, Asian, Brazilian and
Mexican music as well as rock and jazz.
A veteran of nine CDs and various international
jazz festivals including the Houston International Jazz Festival
in the US, SACBE celebrates its thirty-third anniversary
with its debut concert in Singapore.
Joining them for a couple of songs will be
Singapore’s own Anne Weerapass
whose album “Out Of Nowhere” was recorded
in Los Angeles in USA last year.
Anne has worked with top international
stars such as Ronan Keating and Regine Valesquez
and had also performed to the President of Singapore,
Mr SR Nathan who remarked,
“…one performance that the 500 strong
audiences are unlikely to forget”.

This family concert-in-the-park will leave
you in awe as you toe-tap, sway, jig and shake to
the music of these international performers.
This programme also includes fringe activities
and the very popular online photography competition.
Bring a camera, bring a chair, bring a mat,
bring a hat, bring your shades and bring your
family for a jolly good time.
This programme will certainly take your breath away!
